Game seven of the World Series put Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Blue Jays in third place. 0.24 points ahead of his teammate, George Springer. Guerrero went one for five with a double, while Springer produced a three for six in the 5-4 Dodgers victory.

Shohei Ohtani ranks fifth, 1.17 points behind Springer. The Dodgers star posted a two for five in the game with a walk. His teammate, Max Muncy, produced the highest game score of the night, a 73. He reached base four times with a walk and three hits, including a home run. Muncy hit just .214 in the post season, but managed to reach base other ways for a .353 OBP.

Third Not a Charm

Max Scherzer takes the Blue Jays three-run lead into the bottom of the third inning and runs into trouble, too. He loads the bases on a double, single, and walk, the latter coming with one out. Teoscar Hernandez hits a line drive to centerfield, and Daulton Varsho makes a shoestring catch to hold it to a sacrifice fly. Then Tommy Edman hits a hard line drive down the first base line, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. snags it for the third out. Scherzer gets saved by his defense and Toronto leads Los Angeles 3-1.

We’ll see if Scherzer comes out for the fourth inning.

Best Batter Today

Three players from the top five of the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings remained in action on Saturday night. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Blue Jays ranks third after a one for three with a double and a walk, keeping his BA above .400 and his OBP over .500 for the post season. His teammate, George Springer, playing hurt, went two for four to take fourth place. in the 3-1 Dodgers win, forcing game seven.

Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers ranks fifth, also hitting a double and drawing a walk.

The best game score of the night came off the bat of Addison Barger of the Blue Jays, a 59. He collected two doubles and scored the Blue Jays lone run. His second double led to a bit of controversy as it lodged under the padding on the outfield wall:

Yet from the Blue Jays dugout, where the veteran Isiah Kiner-Falefa was watching, he didn’t think the ball properly lodged in the wall..

“It wasn’t lodged in the wall,” said Kiner-Falefa. “I saw it. He got lucky they called it his way. You think of a tennis being stuck in a fence. It doesn’t move. It just sits there. That’s not what happened here. That ball was moving.

“Really, he got the call. But I don’t know if he deserved it.”

TorontoSun.com

The ball didn’t look like it was moving to me, but I’m also not sure it wasn’t playable. It’s like a ball disappearing in the ivy at Wrigley Field. Most of the ball was visible. I suspect someone with the strength of an MLB outfielder could have easily pulled it out from under the padding. The Dodgers did the right thing, however, and got the call.

Best Batter Today

For the second day in a row, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Blue Jays posted the best game score of the day, this time a 64. That puts him third in the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. He went one for three with two walks and a home run, and is now tied with Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers for the most home runs this post season with eight. Overall, he is hitting .415/.506/.831. Best Batter Today

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Blue Jays posted the highest game score of game four of the World Series to move into fourth place in the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. His two for four with a home run and a walk was good for a 66, and put Toronto ahead for good in the 6-2 win over the Dodgers. His teammate, George Springer, sat out with an injury and dropped to fifth place.

On the other side, Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers drew a walk in four trips to the plate and remains in third place. Aaron Judge of the Yankees and Cal Raleigh of the Mariners stand 1-2 respectively.

Ohtani and Guerrero top the home run leaderboard for the post-season, Ohtani with eight and Guerrero with seven. Guerrero hits better overall, with 26 hits to Ohtani’s 15, with the strikeout gap enormous. Ohtani struck out 21 times to Guerrero’s five, The Blue Jays slugger is showing that one can put the ball in play and still slug.

October 28, 2025

Blue Jays Answer

With one out in the top of the third inning, Nathan Lukes singles, then Vladimir Guerrero Jr. homers off a high breaking ball to give Toronto a 2-1 lead.

I suspect Ohtani is a bit more tired that he’s letting on. He only struck out one batter so far. In that way, Monday’s long game may wind up working in the Blue Jays’ favor.

Update: Ohtani strikes out the side in the fourth.

Best Batter Today

George Springer and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Blue Jays rank three and four respectively in the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings after game one of the World Series. Aaron Judge of the Yankees, Cal Raleigh if the Mariners, and Michael Busch of the Cubs rank one, two, and five respectively.

The best game score of game one came off the bat of Alejandro Kirk, a 77. He posted a perfect night at the plate, three for three with a walk and a home run. He’s now hitting .271/.340/.563 in the post season. He’s moved from 125th to 37th with his post-season run. He struck out just seven times in 53 post-season PA this year, and just nine times in his 73 career post-season PA.

Best Batter Today

The League Championship Series round ends with one top five player still in action. George Springer of the Blue Jays hit the game winning three-run homer for a 4-3 to make the final score over the Mariners 4-3. Springer stands in third place, as both he and Cal Raleigh of the Mariners go one for three with a homer and a walk, Raleigh holding second place. Due to his RBI, Springer’s 63 is the highest game score of the day. He will get a chance to catch Raleigh with a good World Series.

ALCS MVP Vladimir Guerrero Jr. dropped to eighth place with a one for four in the game with a strikeout. Skydome is a high scoring ballpark, so the algorithm reduces the value used to calculate the ranking versus a neutral park. We’ll see if both Guerrero and Springer wind up in the top five of the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings at the end of the season.

Best Batter Today

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Blue Jays posts another excellent game at the plate to move into fourth place in the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. He went two for four with a home run and a hit by pitch for a game score of 67, tied for second highest on the day. He is now within striking distance of the second and third place holders. Cal Raleigh of the Mariners, in second, posted an 0 for 4 with three strikeouts, while Guerrero’s teammate George Springer went 0 for 4 with a walk to stay in third place. The Blue Jays won the game 6-2 to force an ALCS game seven Monday night.

Aaron Judge of the Yankees remains first by a wide margin, while Michael Busch of the Cubs drops to fifth place.

A Jays batter also recorded the top game score of the day. Addison Barger went two for three with a homer and walk, driving in half the Blue Jays runs. In his two seasons in the majors, Barger was all about power, with .286 career OBP and a .422 slugging percentage with a .193 isolated power. So far this post season he managed to get on base at a .361 clip while slugging .531.

Best Batter Today

The top five of the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings did not change based on game three of the ALCS, but George Springer of the Blue Jays, in third place, narrowed the gap with Cal Raleigh of the Mariners, in second place. Springer went three for six with a home run for a game score of 66 in the 13-4 Blue Jays victory. Raleigh posted a one for four night, his lone hit a home run for a game score of 56. Four points now separate the two players. Aaron Judge of the Yankees remains on top, while Michael Busch of the Cubs holds fourth place and Juan Soto of the Mets stayed in fifth place.

The best game score of the day went to Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Blue Jays, an 84. He went four for four with a walk, two doubles, and a home run. The morning of October fourth, the day of the Blue Jays first post-season game, Guerrero ranked 76th. In seven games he posted a .464/.515/.964 slash line to move up to twelfth today. Seven of his 13 hits came with men on base, and three of his six extra-base hits. He’s the definition of doing damage this post season.

October 15, 2025

No Cycle

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hits the first pitch of the eighth inning into the gap in right-center. The Blue Jays bench encouraged him to go for the triple to record a cycle, but Guerrero wisely stopped at second base for his second double and fourth hit of the game. With Toronto leading the Mariners 12-2, he should have gone for the triple anyway.

Half of the Blue Jays 16 hits went for extra bases.

October 7, 2025 October 5, 2025

Grand Guerrero

The Blue Jays load the bases with no one out in the bottom of the fourth inning, along the way chasing Max Fried from the game. With one out, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. comes up, and as John Smoltz notes his timing, blasts a ball into the leftfield bleachers for a grand slam. He’s come alive at the right time, three for three so far today, and the Blue Jays lead the Yankees 9-0.

Update: Dalton Varsho adds a home run to his two doubles and the Blue Jays lead 11-0.

Beat the Streak Picks

For the past few years Baseball Musings tried to help with playing Beat the Streak. The Day by Day Database keeps track of hit streak of at least five games. In addition, two programs produce top ten lists of players with a high probability of a hit.

Here are the top picks my programs produced for use in Beat the Streak. This post mostly explains the ideas behind the calculations. In addition, this post shows tests on the Neural Network (NN). This post discusses an NN that includes the ballpark. I updated the models, and the results of those tests are here.

The Log5 Method yields these top projected hit averages versus starting pitchers:

The list generated by the program doesn’t have roster status, so if the last team played for was the Angels, the batter gets evaluated against the Angels’ opponent. The original list was littered with Angels batters, but most were removed as they are no longer on the roster. It’s a very weak offense.

Wilson owns a five-game hit streak.

The NN produces this list of batters with a high probability of collecting at least one hit:

Wilson is the unanimous top pick, with Guerrero the double down choice by consensus.

You can follow the NN results on this spreadsheet. I do not guarantee results. Your best pick is going to have about a 25% chance of not getting a hit. Good luck!

Best Batter Today

Juan Soto of the Mets stayed atop the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings with a two for four game, including a walk and a double. The Mets beat the Reds 5-4. Soto’s drop in power this season comes from his lack of doubles and triples. In 2024, he collected 35 short extra-base hits to go with his 41 home runs. So far this season he collected just 18 SEXBH.

Brice Turang of the Brewers ranks second after a two for five in a 5-2 win over the Pirates. George Springer of the Blue Jays sits in third place after getting hit by a pitch in the 7-1 win over the Yankees, Toronto opening a larger gap in the AL East as the Red Sox also lost. The core of the offense, Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. produced big games for the win.

Bobby Witt Jr. of the Royals sits in fourth place as he went 0 for 3 in a 2-1 win over the Twins. He left the game early with back spasms. The Royals are now one game out of the third wild card slot in the AL, also 1/2 game behind Texas. Five teams are within 2 1/2 games of that final playoff spot. I still hope for a massive tie, even though it would not create a playoff bottleneck.

Corey Seager of the Rangers returned to the dugout yesterday as he continues to recover from an appendectomy. According to the broadcast, he’s trying to come back as quickly as possible. The Rangers beat the Astros 4-3 without him.

Hunter Goodman of the Rockies posted the best game score of the day, a 79. He went three for three with a walk, double, and home run in a 3-0 win over the Padres. He is slugging .538 on the season. The slugging is real. While the road hurts his ability to get on base, he generates even more power away from Coors.

Note that the highest game score of the day for pitchers also occurred in that game, as Kyle Freeland of the Rockies threw eight shutout innings with ten strikeouts and no walks for an 88.

Best Batter Today

William Contreras and Christian Yelich flipped the top two spots in the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. Contreras homered and drove in both runs in the 3-2, ten inning Reds win that stopped the Brewers winning streak at 14 games. Yelich posted an 0 for 4 to drop to second place.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went two for four with a home run in a 10-4 Rangers win to take third place. Bobby Witt Jr. of the Royals moved into fourth place with a single and a walk in a 6-2 win over the White Sox.

Cal Raleigh of the Mariners moved back into the top five with a two for five, including his 47th home run of the season. The Mets took the game 7-3. There is a story that Raleigh is one away from Salvador Perez‘s record for a catcher, 48 in 2021. I don’t buy that record, as it is HR in a season primarily as a catcher. Perez hit 15 home runs as a designated hitter that year. Raleigh hit nine as a designated hitter this season.

Only five seasons saw catchers hit at least 40 home runs, Javy Lopez holding the record at 42.

Jordan Westburg of the Orioles posted the highest game score of the day, an 80. He went four for five with a home run and five RBI in a 12-0 win over the Astros. In his third year in the majors, power continues to be his strength as he owns a .198 isolated power. He only managed 72 games this season due to hamstring and finger injuries.

August 16, 2025

Best Batter Today

Christian Yelich of the Brewers posted a game score of 89 in a 10-8 win over the Reds. That four for five with a double and two home runs sent him soaring to the top slot in the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings as Milwaukee wins their 13th game in a row. The hottest team in the majors owns the top two players in the rankings as William Contreras went one for five with a double and ranks second. Through May 21, Yelich and the now injured Jackson Chourio were doing little for the team. Both were out machines. Since then, Yelich is hitting like an MVP and Chourio isn’t far behind. Contreras has been consistent with his bat throughout the season.

Jose Ramirez of the Guardians sits in third place after an 0 for 4 in a 2-0 Braves win. Julio Rodriguez of the Mariners posted a two for six with two doubles to in an 11-9 win over the Mets to rank fourth. Seattle now trails Houston by 1/2 game. Vladimir Guerrero Jr of the Blue Jays ranks fifth after collecting a double a walk in a 6-5 win over the Rangers. It’s his fourth consecutive season of at least 30 doubles.

Ten points separate one through seven, so expect more churn at the top.

August 15, 2025

Best Batter Today

Julio Rodriguez of the Mariners breaks into the top five of the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings with a one for three, including a hit by pitch and a home run in a 5-3 Orioles win. That puts him in third place. Since July 12th, he’s been collecting hits in bunches with multiple hits in 13 of his 28 games, plus twelve home runs in that span.

Jose Ramirez of the Guardians returned to first place with a three for four in a 9-4 win over the Marlins. The Guardians stand 6 1/2 games out of the division lead, but only 1/2 game out of the wild card. William Contreras of the Brewers and Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers rank second and fifth respectively. Their teams were idle on Thursday.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Blue Jays ranks fourth as he homered and drove in both runs in a 2-1 win over the Cubs. Toronto leads Boston by five games in the AL East.

The best game score of the day belonged to Ozzie Albies of the Braves, a 74. He went three for four with a double and a home run in a 4-3 win over the Mets. His RBI double in the 8th sealed the victory for Atlanta. It was a big night in a very down years for the veteran second baseman.

August 14, 2025

Best Batter Today

William Contreras of the Brewers tops the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings as he continued his onslaught* Wednesday. He went two for three with two walks and four RBI in the 12-5 win over the Pirates, Milwaukee’s twelfth win in a row. That raised his OBP to .362 for the season. He now owns a five-game hit streak, with multiple hits in his last four games.

*Not to be confused with Don Slaught.

Jose Ramirez of the Guardians drops to second place after a one for three in a 13-4 Marlins win. In that game, Jakob Marsee of the Marlins posted the highest game score of the day, a 91. That was the 20th game score of at least 90 in 2025. Marsee went four for five with a double and two home runs, driving in seven runs along the way. Thirteen games into his career, Marsee owns a .436/.542/.872 slash line, with ten of his seventeen hits going for extra bases. In the minors, Marsee’s strength was his ability to get on base. His BA and power numbers were okay. We’ll see how long this lasts.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Blue Jays sits in third place after a one for four with a double in a 4-1 Cubs win. Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers ranks fourth, as he tripled and walked in a 6-5 Angels win. He now owns eight triples on the season, The third time he reached that level in a season. One more gives him a new single season high.

Corey Seager of the Rangers rounds out the top five. He went 0 for 5 in a 6-4 Diamondbacks win.

August 13, 2025

Best Batter Today

Jose Ramirez of the Guardians posted the second highest game score of the day, an 81, to reclaim the top slot in the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. Ramirez produced an extra good night as he collected a double and two home runs in a 4-3 win over the Marlins. Coupled with the White Sox downing the Tigers 9-6, Cleveland is now just 5 1/2 games out of first place in the AL Central.

Corey Seager of the Rangers sits in second place after an 0 for 4 in a 3-2 Diamondbacks win. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Blue Jays ranks third, propelled by a three for four in a 5-1 win over the Cubs.

William Contreras of the Brewers took fourth place after the Brewers tagged Pirates starter Paul Skenes for four runs in four innings and go on to a 14-0 rout. Contreras singled twice and walked once. In his last fourteen games Contreras is hitting .375/.462/.750.

Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers brushes aside his latest scandal as he homered and drew two walks against his former team, but the Angels win 7-6. Ohtani raised his slugging percentage to .629.

Francisco Alvarez of the Mets posted the highest game score of the day, an 82 going three four for with a double and two home runs in a 13-5 win over the Braves. (The difference between Alvarez and Ramriez comes from Alvarez driving in two more runs and striking out one time to none.) Alvarez is having a good season getting on base, with a .347 mark. With the three extra-base hits, however, he is only slugging .414.

August 12, 2025

Best Batter Today

Monday brought no changes to the top five of the Baseball Musing Batter Rankings. Corey Seager of the Rangers remained on top with a with a two for four, including an intentional walk and a double in a 7-6 comeback win over the Diamondbacks. Nathan Eovaldi saw his ERA rise to 1.71 as he allowed five runs in five innings.

Kyle Schwarber of the Phillies homered in a 4-1 win over the Red, Schwarber’s 42nd homer of the season. It looks like he has a good chance of topping his single season high of 47 homers set in 2023.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Blue Jays third, and Jose Ramirez of the Guardians, fifth saw their teams idle on Monday. The injured Jackson Chourio of the Brewers did not play. Milwaukee beat Pittsburgh 7-1 to run their winning streak to ten games.

The best game score of the day came off the bat of Zach Neto of the Angels. He went three for three with two home runs and two walks, one intentional for a score of 86 in a 7-4 win over the Dodgers. In his age 24 season, Neto raised his batting averages, with power becoming his strength. His .329 OBP is fine, maybe not great for batting leadoff. A shortstop who slugs .481 is valuable. He will enter his prime years next season on a good offensive trajectory.

August 11, 2025

Best Batter Today

The Phillies 4-2 win over the Rangers featured the top two hitters in the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. Corey Seager of the Rangers drew two walks in four trips to the plate to remain in first place, while Kyle Schwarber of the Phillies drew one BB in his four PA to hold second place. Both have OBPs for the season of at least .370.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Blue Jays sits in third place after a two for four with a double and a home run in a 5-4 win over the Dodgers. Guerrero is now slugging .488 on the season. He got off to a poor start in power this year, but is slugging .585 since June 14th. The Blue Jays are 31-19 in that time frame.

The injured Jackson Chourio of the Brewers ranks fourth, but his teammate, William Contreras posted the best game score of the day on Sunday, an 80. He went three for four with a double and two home runs in a 7-6, comeback, walk-off win over the Mets. The Brewers win their ninth game in a row and lead the NL Central by six games. Contreras saw his power drop quite a bit this season, but kept his OBP up. Eight of his last fifteen hits went for extra bases, however, so he may be returning to form. That’s helping the Brewers absorb the Chourio injury.

Jose Ramirez of the Guardians rounds out the top five after going 0 for 5 in a 6-4 White Sox win. He went two for his last 25 with two walks, but just three strikeouts. He is getting the bat on the ball, but not finding holes.

August 10, 2025

Best Batter Today

Corey Seager of the Rangers retakes first place in the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. Seager went two for four with a home run to move 0.45 points ahead of Jose Ramirez of the Guardians. Ramirez posted an 0 for 4 in 3-1 win over the White Sox.

That leaves the injured Jackson Chourio of the Brewers in fourth place, Milwaukee continuing their hot play with a 7-4 win over the Mets.

Shea Langeliers of the Athletics posted the best game score of the day, a 77. He went three for four with a walk, double, and home run in an 11-3 win over the Orioles. This is the second time this week Langeliers topped the game score leaderboard. He now ranks eighth, with his teammate Nick Kurtz tenth. Langeliers age 27 is what it should be, the best of his career.

August 9, 2025

Best Batter Today

Jose Ramirez of the Guardians sits atop the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings after collecting a double and a walk in a 9-5 win over the White Sox. Seventeen of his last 33 hits went for extra bases.

Kyle Schwarber of the Phillies homered and walked in a 9-1 rout of the Rangers, his 41st home run of the season. His teammate, Brandon Marsh, posted the best game score of the day, a 79. Marsh went four for five with two doubles and a home run. Marsh’s strength is getting on base, and the game raised his OBP to .344. He is now slugging .433, making this a good year for him in terms of power. In that same game Corey Seager of the Rangers went two for five. He sits in fourth place.

Third place belongs to Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Blue Jays, just 0.4 points ahead of Seager. In a game that featured Max Scherzer against Clayton Kershaw, Guerrero doubled and walked in four trips to the plate. Both starters pitched well, but Kershaw a little better as the Dodgers took the game 5-1. With a Red Sox win over the Padres, Toronto’s lead in the AL East is down to three games, the same lead as the Dodgers over the Padres.

The injured Jackson Chourio of the Brewers slips to fifth place as Milwaukee downed the Mets 3-2.

August 7, 2025

Best Batter Today

Jose Ramirez of the Guardians once again sits atop the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. He singled in a 4-1 win over the Mets, the Guardians completing a sweep that puts them six games behind the first place Tigers in the AL Central.

Kyle Schwarber of the Phillies missed a lot of pitches on Wednesday, going 0 for 4 with three strikeouts as the Orioles take the game 5-1. Schwarber remains in second place, and the Phillies retain their 2 1/2 game lead over the Mets in the NL East.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Blue Jays moved up to third place as he posted a four for seven game in a 20-1 thrashing of the Rockies. Guerrero included a double and a home run among his hits. His teammate, Ty France, went four for four with two hit by pitches for a game score of 83, the highest on the day. The top three game scores of the day all came off the bats of Blue Jays hitters.

The injured Jackson Chourio of the Brewers dropped to fourth place as his team beat the Braves 5-4.

Corey Seager of the Rangers rounds out the top five after a two for three with two walks in a 3-2 Yankees win.

August 3, 2025

Best Batter Today

Jose Ramirez of the Guardians stayed atop the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings with a nice game in a 5-4 win over the Twins. Ramirez went two for three with a walk and a home run, how slugging .526 on the season. The Guardians are now just two games out of the third wild card slot in a very tight AL race.

Corey Seager of the Rangers remained in second place with a walk and a single in a 6-4 win over the Mariners. Texas closes the gap to one game behind Seattle for that third wild card slot.

Jackson Chourio of the Brewers, on the illjured list, moves up to third place as a swath of players in the top ten have poor days at the plate. Aaron Judge, also injured, moved up to sixth place. The Brewers beat the Nationals 8-2 with no Chourio.

Manny Machado of the Padres ranks fourth after a one for four in an 8-5 Cardinals win. He tried to stretch his RBI single into a double in the first inning. The Padres blew a 4-0 lead in the game.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Blue Jays rounds out the top five, drawing a walk in a 4-2 win over the Royals. They now lead the second place Red Sox by four games as Boston moves past New York in the AL East.

The best game score of the day belonged to Liover Peguero of the Pirates, an 85. He went three for five, all three hits home runs, and drove in all five Pittsburgh runs. It wasn’t enough as the Rockies dinged Paul Skenes for four runs in five innings to win the game 8-5. Peguero at seasonal age 24, sees action in his fourth season, never sticking in the majors. Maybe he’s finally ready with five extra-base hits in his first eleven games.

Note that Jordan Beck‘s three-run home run off Skenes was the first three-run homer Skenes allowed in his career.

Note that Warming Bernabel of the Rockies posted another big game, three for four with two doubles.

August 2, 2025

Best Batter Today

Jose Ramirez of the Guardians remained in first place after a one for four with a walk in a 3-2 win over the Twins, the Guardians now eight games out of first place in the AL Central. Corey Seager of the Rangers maintained second place despite an 0 for 4 in a 4-3 Mariners victory.

His teammate, William Contreras, tied for the highest game score of the day, however, an 82. He went five for seven with a double and a home run in a 16-9 win over the Nationals, one of three teams Friday night to score at least 16 runs, and one of five teams in double digits. Contreras does an excellent job this season of getting on base with a .356 mark, but is only slugging .382.

Manny Machado of the Padres occupied fifth place after a one for four in a 4-1 win over the Cardinals. The Padres recorded their sixth win in a row.

The other 82 came off the bat of Brenton Doyle of the Rockies. He went four for five with a walk and a home run in a good night for catchers. The Rockies won the game 17-16 over the Pirates. Note that teammate Ezequiel Tovar collected four doubles in the game.
