Jose Ramirez of the Guardians stayed atop the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings with a nice game in a 5-4 win over the Twins. Ramirez went two for three with a walk and a home run, how slugging .526 on the season. The Guardians are now just two games out of the third wild card slot in a very tight AL race.
Corey Seager of the Rangers remained in second place with a walk and a single in a 6-4 win over the Mariners. Texas closes the gap to one game behind Seattle for that third wild card slot.
Jackson Chourio of the Brewers, on the illjured list, moves up to third place as a swath of players in the top ten have poor days at the plate. Aaron Judge, also injured, moved up to sixth place. The Brewers beat the Nationals 8-2 with no Chourio.
Manny Machado of the Padres ranks fourth after a one for four in an 8-5 Cardinals win. He tried to stretch his RBI single into a double in the first inning. The Padres blew a 4-0 lead in the game.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Blue Jays rounds out the top five, drawing a walk in a 4-2 win over the Royals. They now lead the second place Red Sox by four games as Boston moves past New York in the AL East.
The best game score of the day belonged to Liover Peguero of the Pirates, an 85. He went three for five, all three hits home runs, and drove in all five Pittsburgh runs. It wasn’t enough as the Rockies dinged Paul Skenes for four runs in five innings to win the game 8-5. Peguero at seasonal age 24, sees action in his fourth season, never sticking in the majors. Maybe he’s finally ready with five extra-base hits in his first eleven games.
Note that Jordan Beck‘s three-run home run off Skenes was the first three-run homer Skenes allowed in his career.
Note that Warming Bernabel of the Rockies posted another big game, three for four with two doubles.
