Players A to Z, Ramon Castro

Ramon Castro caught for the New York Mets and Chicago White Sox in 2009. He currently seeks work as a free agent. It was thought he signed with the Toronto Blue Jays, but that deal fell through. Castro had an eventful 2009, getting traded by the Mets to the White Sox and then catching Mark Buehrle’s perfect game.

Castro hits for good power for a backup catcher. His career batting average comes in at .233, but his slugging percentage stands at .415, an isolated power of .182. Of his 290 career hits, 116 went for extra bases, although he’s never hit a triple. He was however, successful in the only stolen base attempt of his career.
