The Replacements

The Diamondbacks got a lot of mileage out of two of the newer, older additions to the team as they came back from a 6-1 deficit to defeat the Brewers 8-6. Sean Burroughs picked up three hits to lift his batting average over .300, and Wily Mo Pena hit a home run, his fifth in 39 at bats this season. Burroughs isn’t doing much besides hitting singles, with his OBP the same as his batting average and his slugging percentage just a few points higher. Pena isn’t doing much but hitting home runs, as five of his eight hits left the ball park. They’re bit players, however, and they are playing their parts well.

More Wily Mo

After hitting 21 home runs in 63 minor league games, the Arizona brought up Wily Mo Pena for the first time since 2008. He did not disappoint as he homered in the Diamondbacks 7-2 win over the Royals. Chris Young added his 15th long ball of the season, and Joe Saunders pitched seven strong innings. With the Giants losing 8-0 early in their game, Arizona could be in first place come Wednesday morning.
