Best Batter Today

Sunday shuffled the bottom of the top five of the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. Juan Soto of the Nationals stays on top as he singles and walks. In the same game, Pete Alonso of the Mets goes three for five with two doubles to claim fourth place. The Mets take the game 13-6.

Paul Goldschmidt of the Cardinals goes one for five to stay in second place, as the Brewers score five runs in the ninth inning to beat St. Louis 6-5, the last four runs coming on a grand slam.

Bryce Harper moves back into third place as he homers and hits a sacrifice fly in four PA, the Phillies edging out the Marlins 4-3 in ten innings.

Jose Abreu of the White Sox rounds out the top five with an 0 for 4 as Brady Singer and the Royals bullpen pitch a 6-0 shutout.

The highest game score of Sunday goes to DJ Peters of the Rangers, an 88. The Texas designated hitter might get the nickname the Junk Man as he hits two home runs off Janson Junk of the Angels, spoiling the rookie’s MLB debut. Peters goes four for five and adds a double. Sixteen of his 29 hits this season went for extra bases.
