Walk Off Thursday

A few minutes after the Mets walk off with a win, Brandon Allen hits a pinch-hit, walk-off home run against the Angels, giving the Rays a 4-3 win. Allen was designated for assignment by the Oakland Athletics on April 9th, then picked up by the Rays on the 19th. He had a walk and an RBI on Wednesday, and now a home run and two RBI today. A rather perfect start for the Rays, with a 1.000/1.000/4.000 slash line!

Mike Trumbo went two for two for the Angels with a double and homer, providing the team with some much needed offense. Matt Moore pitched a bit better, walking two and striking out six in 5 2/3 innings. The Tampa Bay bullpen, however, walked none and struck out four the rest of the game, allowing the team to come back.

Allen Goes to Town

Brandon Allen makes an impressive 2010 debut as he hits a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh, deep into the rightfield stands to give the Diamondbacks a 5-2 lead over the Padres. Luke Gregerson was on in relief of Mat Latos, who pitched six innings, giving up one walk while striking out ten. His only mistake was a solo home run by Chris Young. Gregerson was hurt by an error on what should have been a double play, but he did walk a batter and give up a hit prior to the homer.

Update: The final stays at 5-2, and the Padres lose seven in a row.
