Evil Player

The Evil Player program selected Scot Shields as Tuesday’s evil player. Scot’s owns an evil knee that last season decided to turn him from one of the game’s outstanding relief pitcher into a mediocre hurler. As he works back from knee surgery, his control is slowly coming back as seen in his monthly numbers. He walked eight batters in six innings of work in April with a 10.50 ERA. In May, he issued nine walks in 10 2/3 innings, and his ERA dropped to 4.22 for the month. So far in June, he’s posting a 3.86 ERA with three walks in seven innings. More importantly, he went two inning with no runs allowed in each of his last two appearances, the first times he went two innings all season. Looks like Scot is triumphing over his evil knee.
