Players A to Z, Koyie Hill

Koyie Hill catches in a backup capacity for the Chicago Cubs. Hill owns an extremely poor major league hitting record, with both his career OBP and slugging percentage below .300. With hitting like that one would expect him to be a defensive wizard. That wizardry turns out to be tough to detect, and both Baseball Reference and FanGraphs rate his defense poorly. He’s slightly below replacement level for his career, and it will be interesting to see if the new regime in Chicago keeps him as a cheap bench player or tries to find someone who can contribute more to take over the role.
