Starting pitching continues to evolve as Ariel Jurado leads Texas against the Red Sox and Darwinzon Hernandez. Jurado, in his sophomore season, found his control and lowered both his hits and walks allowed to bring his ERA down over three runs. Hernandez makes his first MLB start after a relief appearance as the 26th man in an April double header. In the minors he posted great strikeout and home run rates, but he walks the ballpark.
First place teams square off in Houston as the Brewers send Freddy Peralta against Brad Peacock. Peralta appears to be hurt by his defense. With 52 K and just 13 walks in 44 innings, he’s allowed 51 hits. Couple balls not being fielded with eight home runs allowed and his ERA stands at 5.11. Peacock owns similar K and BB rates, but with hust 49 hits and four home runs allowed in 64 2/3 innings, his ERA stands at 3.20.
Enjoy!
