Campana Can Run

Tony Campana missed the cycle by a triple, hitting an inside the park home run for the first of his career. I was impressed with Campana’s speed on the home run, as the second the ball got by the outfielders the announcers knew it would be an inside the park home run. On the double, the Reds broadcasts showed him running in slow motion, and he was still running fast. He also made a great catch in center at the 400 foot sign in Wrigley. Looks like he’ll be an exiting player. His offense and defense helped the Cubs to a 4-3 win over the Reds.

Failure and Redemption

Tony Campana made a terrible throw in the top of the ninth inning that allowed the Giants to tie the Cubs at one. He three-hopped a throw to the catcher, far off the plate that allowed Bill Hall to score from second on a single. A decent throw gets the runner easily. Tony made up for it in the ninth, however, leading off the inning with an infield single, and coming around to score on an Aramis Ramirez single for a 2-1 Cubs win. That snapped the Giants seven game winning streak. This was the fifth game this Wednesday in which the teams combined to score three runs or fewer.
