Angels Comeback

The Angels enter the ninth inning down four runs. Erick Aybar and Kole Calhoun lead-off the inning with solo home runs. They were then down to two outs and Albert Pujols on second, when C.J. Cron, David Freese, Carlos Perez, and Johnny Giavotella single to give the Angels an 11-10 lead. The Angels are still batting in the ninth.

It looked like the story would be Josh Hamilton hitting two home runs to beat the Angels, but that goes to the back burner.

Update: The Angels hand on for an 11-10 win. Texas fails to clinch the AL West, leaving the Astros with a chance to win the division, and the Angels with a chance to gain a wild card slot. Stay tuned.

Odd Stats

One thing I love about baseball is that you get very good sets of stats in a game sometimes. The Angels collected one hit through seven innings while the Oakland Athletics record six, but the Angels lead the A’s 2-0. The hone hit was a home run by Kole Calhoun after a batter reached on an error. Sometimes a well timed hit means more than a great pitching performance.

Update: The Angels go on to win 2-0 with just the one hit.
