Trea Turner of the Dodgers returns to the top five of the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. Turner goes two for four with a double and a walk in a 5-3 Braves win to take the fifth slot in the rankings.
Paul Goldschmidt of the Cardinals remains on top as he posts a two for four day in a 5-3 win over the Cubs. Yordan Alvarez of the Astros goes 0 for 4 with three strikeouts in another well pitched Astros-Yankees game. He stays in second place as Houston wins a no-hitter 3-0.
Third place belongs to Pete Alonso of the Mets. He hits two home runs in a 5-3 win over the Marlins Bryce Harper of the Phillies rounds out the top five as he goes 0 for 1 with a hit by pitch in a 4-2 win over the Padres. Unfortunately, the HBP broke Harper’s thumb. He was trying to protect his face. There’s no word yet on the severity of the injury.
On another day of low offense, three players tied for best game score with a 73. Anthony Kemp of the Athletics, Randy Arozarena of the Rays, and Matt Chapman of the Blue Jays all recorded the score. Kemp recorded three hits, two doubles and a home run. Arozarena picked up four hits, including two doubles. Chapman singled, doubled, and homered, but did so in just four plate apperanced.
