East Longmeadow’s own Nick Ahmed just took out home plate umpire Kerwin Danley. Ahmed swung at a pitch up and in, and fouled it straight back into Danley’s mask. The replay showed it hit the mask right between the eyes. Danley did not go down, but he was bent over for a while, and the came out of the game. According to the broadcast, Danley has suffered concussions before, so they’re going to be very careful and work with a three-man crew.
