Another coach bites the dust as the Indians replace hitting coach Jon Nunnally with Bruce Fields:
The Indians recently went through an offensive slump in which they were shut out six times in 18 games from May 27 to June 14. Cleveland went 5-13 during that span, with two of the wins by 1-0 scores.
In the majors, Nunnally was a low average hitter who did a great job getting on base, the kind of person who might teach selectivity. Fields was a high average hitter who didn’t walk much, although in the minors that wasn’t the case.
