The Athletics demonstrated today the advantage of using a second lead-off man in the ninth batting slot. Cliff Pennington batted ninth, and got himself into scoring position with two doubles. Rajai Davis led off, and singled twice. This combination gave Daric Barton plenty of opportunities to drive in runners, and his three singles drove in four runs today. That was more than enough as Oakland defeated Seattle 6-2.
