Miguel Tejada just hit the first pitch he saw tonight on a line back to the box. It hit Jeff Niemann on the top of the arm at the shoulder. The ball deflected to Carlos Pena at first for the out, but the Rays are now trying to decide if Niemann should stay in the game.

Maddon decides to take him out. Niemann had shoulder problems in the past. Orioles and Rays are scoreless in the top of the second.

Update: Andy Sonnanstine takes over. This is exactly why when Sonnanstine lost the fifth stater slot, they put him in the bullpen.
