Lidge Off the Ledge

Brad Lidge gives up a triple and a run, but gets the save as he enters the ninth with a three-run lead as the the Phillies sweep the Nationals, tonight winning 4-2. He didn’t let the big hit phase him, however, as he got the other three batters in the inning.

Even more important for the Phillies success, Cole Hamels pitched eight strong innings, giving up one run. With performances like that, the Phillies won’t need a closer too often.
