Broadcast History

Maury Brown offers a history of All-Star game television broadcasts.

The last time Vin Scully called an All-Star Game was 1989 at Anaheim Stadium for NBC (AL won 5-3) with Tom Seaver.

The first ASG Vin Scully broadcast was 1959 from the LA Coliseum on August 3 as the number 2 to Mel Allen.

Shouldn’t Fox invite Scully to do another game? Vin is getting up there in age, and we don’t know how much longer he’ll be broadcasting. Maybe next season (since the game in in Anaheim), they can let Vin take over for three innings.

I imagine Vin could have made the trip. He doesn’t travel east of the Rockies any more, though, so he might have preferred the break.
