Games of the Day

The Rangers send another ace against the Blue Jays as Nathan Eovaldi faces Jose Berrios. Eovaldi comes off his worst start of the season in which he allowed five runs in five innings, allowing three of his eight home runs on the season. Berrios deserves praise for a very solid career. If he wins today, he’ll have reached double digits in the category in eight of his ten seasons. In fact, since 2016 he is third in wins, sandwiched between Max Scherzer and Gerrit Cole on top, with Justin Verlander and Clayton Kershaw behind him. He has more starts than any of those four, and sometimes just the ability to show up pays off.

The Brewers face a tough LHP today in the Reds Andrew Abbott as Jose Quintana tries to extend Milwaukee’s streak to fifteen straight wins. Quintana limited hits despite just 69 strikeouts in 99 1/3 innings. He’s very good at inducing double plays as well. Abbott performs at extremes against the Brewers, with two six inning shutouts and and couple of high-run outings.

Enjoy!
