The White Sox still have a decent starting pitcher left as Cleveland sends Logan Allen against Mike Clevinger. The rookie Allen comes into the game with a 3.39 ERA. He appears to have tamed his wildness in July, with just one walk in twelve innings. Clevinger improved his ERA over last season despite a higher walk rate. He issued 35 free passes in 2022 in 114 1/3 innings. In 2023, he already allowed 26 walks in 62 2/3 innings.

First place teams clash in Atlanta as former Braves starter Julio Teheran leads the Brewers against Bryce Elder. Teheran is giving the Brewers solid innings, averaging nearly six per start after missing most of 2021 and all of 2022. His strength lies in his low walk numbers, which moderates his high home run total. Elder allowed nine of his twelve home runs at home.
