Five Thirty Eight points out that no baseball player wears uniform number sixty nine. I suspect it’s more because teams don’t allow it than players don’t request it. Does MLB believe that the number would cause fans to heckle players with off-color jokes? Maybe they should just retire 69 in honor of Dick Pole.
