It appears Ryan Dempster hit Alex Rodriguez due to A-Rod snubbing Ryan at an event. Dempster is a bigger jerk than I thought earlier, and if this turns out to be true, the Red Sox should discipline Ryan. He started the Red Sox on the way to a possible loss.
Arod is going to send Dempster a big thank you card. Dempster did more for Arods PR than a multi million dollar PR campaign could.
Whatever the real reason, the Red Sox brand took a big hit. Even the boos for Arod on his 2nd AB were muted as some fans seemed to get that we lost the moral high ground.
This could be the spark that the Yankees rally around, much like the Arod-Tek incident in 2004 was alleged to have done.
So this is the kind of silliness we’re descending to in this? Sheesh. Just suspend Dempster and the cheater and be done with it.
A-Roid getting beaned doesn’t somehow make him less of a disgrace to baseball. If his polarizing activities and nefariously self-centered attitude continue to make him a target, baseball should place safety first (for him and other players who would be involved in potential fracas) and ban A-Roid for life. He brought this down on himself, the game doesn’t need to suffer due to the actions of one gigantic jerk.
