Boston places Clay Buchholz on the disabled list:

The Red Sox announced this afternoon that they placed righthander Clay Buchholz on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 17, with a lower back strain.

Andrew Miller, who has been called up from Pawtucket, will start tomorrow against the Padres and fill the roster spot.

Miller hasn’t had a lot of success in the majors. His ERA was low at Pawtucket, but his walks were still high.
