I get the feeling Mariners fans don’t like using a designated hitter who can no longer hit.
July 8th marks the last Giffey promotional night of the season. I have to think that there is a reason the Seattle Mariners didn’t pepper the entire season with Griffey giveaways.
Can the Mariners tread water until July 9th?
Jr. didn’t hit last year, and he’s not hitting this year. He’s not going to get to 3000 hits, or 2000 RBI, and he’s not going to catch Mays for fourth place on the all-time home run list. It was about at this point in his final season that Mike Schmidt realized he could no longer contribute and retired. Maybe Mike should give Ken a call.
