Brett Carroll made a loud 2010 debut for the Marlins as they defeated the Reds 5-3. He started the season on the disabled list, but comes off to knock out a single, double and homer, scoring two runs and driving in one. He’ll play as a 27-year-old, so if he’s ever going to have a breakout season, this is it.
I’ll also note that Gaby Sanchez singled and drew two walks, settling nicely in as an offensive first baseman. So far this season, he’s posted a .300/.432/.533 slash line, the kind of high offensive output a team wants from a first baseman. We’ll see how long he can keep those number elevated.
