“Heat of the Moment” – a crappy song by Asia and a terrible excuse, especially for a guy who hung his friend out to dry and take the fall.

It’s good to take responsibbility – but do it when the event happens and not hours later.

There is no such thing as open season on baseball players.

I also think it’s time to drop the charges against this guy. That would send a wonderful precedent for the whole lot of us hooligans. In the future we’ll have the freedom to dump our food and drink on an opposing player in the middle of the game, let our friend’s cousin take the fall, then wait a day before turning ourselves into the police. How fun! Then all we have to do to escape punishment is offer a lame excuse and an apology.

No, but seriously, fry the fucker.

If it means he has to go to jail then yeah I say drop the charges but a misdemeanor charge of assault with some kind of fine would get good press and hopefully make someone else think twice.

Either he was too drunk to know what he was doing or too stupid to know it was wrong.
Let’s remove him from the gene pool for a few days in jail – or we show up at his or his parents’ place of work and throw beer on them as an alternative punishment.

I agree that the charges should be dropped. The guy is obviously an idiot but Shane is bigger than that. The guy was wrong in what he did and there is no place for that in baseball, but if he truly would like to apologize in person to Shane then that would take a lot of balls to do that. I am not condoning what the guy did and it is no fun being at a game with guys like that, maybe he should be banned from games at Wrigley for the rest of the season at least and have to apologize in person.
