The Athletics traded two minor leaguers and a player to be named to San Diego for Scott Hairston. Scott is having a good year, but he’s 29 and had a less than impressive career. Oakland is 11 games out in the AL West and 13 1/2 out in the wild card. I would expect them to make a deal that went the other way.

I suspect they’re going to trade another outfielder (Holliday?) and need Hairston to fill that slot.
