Cubs Go North

The Cubs beat the Padres 3-1 to advance to the NLDS against the Brewers. With each team drawing one walk, the Cubs outhit the Padres 13-7, but San Diego did a good job of removing base runners with two double plays and two caught stealing, plus a nice play by Luis Arraez throwing a runner out at the plate on a groundball.

It was all for naught, however, as the Padres could only score on a solo home run. Jameson Taillon gave the Cubs four shutout innings, and the parade of Chicago relievers were up to the task. That sets up a mid-wet freeway series, Perfect Strangers takes on Happy Days.
