Thursday brought a small shuffling of the top five in the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. Aaron Judge of the Yankees stays on top after an 0 for 3 with a walk drops his batting average to .396. New York beat Texas 1-0. Cal Raleigh of the Mariners drops to third as his two for five with three strikeouts pulls him 0.3 points behind the idle Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers. The Astros took the game against the Mariners 9-2, Isaac Paredes going 0 for 4 with a GDP to drop to fifth place.
Kyle Tucker and the Cubs did not play Thursday, and Tucker sits in fourth place.
The best game score of the day belonged to Gavin Sheets of the Padres, an 80. He went three for five with two home runs and five RBI in a 7-6, eleven inning Blue Jays win. Freed from the hell of the White Sox, Sheets is walking a bit less and striking out more, but hitting the ball harder. Hit batting average and power are way up, while his OBP went from poor to good. He turned out to be a nice addition to the Padres.
