Best Batter Today

Friday’s games brought no change to the top five of the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. Aaron Judge and Juan Soto of the Yankees rank first and third respectively. Judge homered and walked three times in the 4-2 win over the White Sox, while Soto went one for four with a double. Eight of Judge’s last ten hits went for extra bases.

Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts of the Dodgers rank second and fifth respectively. Both homered in the 7-3 win over the Reds, and Betts added a walk.

William Contreras of the Brewers drew a walk in four trips to the plate as the Astros continued their resurgence with a 5-4 win.

The best game score of the day came off the bat of Nick Fortes of the Marlins, a 78. The light hitting catcher went three for three with a walk and a home run to help Miami shut out the Mets 8-0. He’s now slashing .159/.198/.256 for the season. He currently ranks 321st.
