Aaron Judge of the Yankees remains on top of the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings with a one for four in a 4-0 Rays victory. That’s the fourth time an opponent shut out the Yankees in their last nine games. Judge saw his home run pace drop to 64 for the season, with his most likely total down to 57. His probability of hitting at least 62 home runs drops to 0.099.
Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado of the Cardinals did not play as the team had an off day. They rank second and fourth respectively. Freddie Freeman of the Dodgers doubled and homered in a 4-0 win over the Brewers to move past Arenado into third place. Freeman leads the majors in doubles with 38.
Alex Bregman of the Astros rounds out the top five as he doubles in four trips to the plate in a 4-2 White Sox win.
Ian Happ brought some happiness to Cubs fans as he homered twice and drew a walk to post a game score of 77, the highest of the night. That wasn’t enough, however, as the hapless Nationals took the game 5-4. Happ improved his batting average and OBP this season as his power dropped, which is pretty much MLB in a nutshell this year. He now has 12 home runs after hitting 25 dingers in 2021.
