I wondered if Buttrey had some mental health issues similar to Zack Greinke, but I suspect the stress of the last two years probably figured in the decision. He posted very good three-true outcome numbers in 2018-2019, and at seasonal age 29 there should be interest. The Angels still control his contract, and LAnaheim always seems short of pitching. I suspect they’ll give him a shot at making the team.
