Here is the list of free agents for the off-season from MLB.com.
Among the hitters, there are very few below seasonal age 30. Most of them posted very low WARs in 2021. The exception is among the shortstops, where Carlos Correa, Trevor Story, and Corey Seager are still in their primes and posted excellent numbers. If a team wants a great shortstop they can get one, but the best deal might go to the last one to sign, after the market is depeleted.
Young and good also appears to be in short supply among the pitchers, with Carlos Rodon and Robbie Ray at the top of that list, although Ray will play 2022 as a 30 year old.
I wonder how long a deal Max Scherzer will get. I would give him lots of money for a one-year deal, but I don’t know that I would want to go two years with him at this point.
