At Least Two More Days of Games

Things are going well on Monday for maximizing the number of LDS games this season. The day started with the Rays spanking Zack Greinke and the Astros, Tampa Bay winning game three 10-3 to keep that series alive. Willy Adames had the best day at the play for Tampa Bay, hitting a single, double, and home run, but Kevin Kiermaier’s three-run shot in the second put the Rays ahead to stay. Greinke allowed five hits in 3 2/3 innings, but three of those were home runs.

The Braves and Cardinals need extra innings to set up a game five. The Braves held a 4-3 lead after five innings, but a Yadier Molina would decide the game. He drove in the tying run in the eighth with a single, then the winning run in the tenth with a sacrifice fly. This series goes back to Atlanta for game five on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Nationals lead the Dodgers 6-1 in the bottom of the eighth inning. If they can hold the lead, a second game five will take place Wednesday. The Yankees lead the Twins 1-0 in the top of the third, and the Twins are overdue for a post-season win. We’ll have at least 16 of a possible 20 games played. That’s pretty good.

Update: The Nationals beat the Dodgers 6-1, and we will have at least 17 games in the LDS this year. Two games fives on Wednesday will be a lot of fun.
