Jose Leclerc signed a team-friendly deal with the Texas Rangers:
And some people were not happy:
Leclerc cut his walks way down in 2018, but he still walks a high number of batters. His MLB career is just 118 1/3 innings, which is a small sample size. Pitching is a bit of a crap shoot, and relievers, given how little they pitch, can have wild swings in their abilities. Leclerc saw a chance to be set for life, rather than suffering a regression and losing out on any big money. I for one am happy for him. Fourteen million dollars is a pretty nice nest egss for a 25 year old.
