Mitch Haniger led off with a home runs, Denard Span tripled, then Jean Segura doubled to start the first inning against Justin Verlander. It’s 2-0 as Nelson Cruz goes for the single.

Update: Cruz does it! He lines a single to left-center, and the Mariners lead the Astros 3-0. I guess Verlander telling everyone about his recovery killed the mystique.

Update: Haniger doubles in the second inning, and Span follows with a home run. Lots of potential cycles tonight.

Update: Segura homers to go back-to-back with Span. Now Segura has a double and a homer.
