O’Malleys Returns

The Padres agreed to sell the team to the heirs of former Dodgers owner Peter O’Malley.

Moores hasn’t really cared about the Padres for quite some time and as he retreats back to Houston it’s becoming harder to remember a time when he did.

It remains to be seen how O’Malley’s reign will affect the franchise but with Moores being an absentee owner for so long there’s a sense of relief knowing that we’re finally free from him, for good.

This will be interesting, too, since the name O’Malley was synonymous with the rival Dodgers for so many years.

Yeah, but the O’Malleys hired Buzzie Bavasi to run the Dodgers, and he left that position on good terms in order to become the first GM of the Padres. I imagine there’s some good will left from that period.
