Defensive Specialist

The problem with hiring a defensive player at an offensive position, like Lyle Overbay, is that it looks really bad when they make a game losing error. The Pirates were cruising with a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the eighth when Overbay muffed what should have been the first out of the inning. Two outs and five runs (three unearned) later, the Pirates found themselves 5-3 losers.

The Cubs bullpen pitched very well to keep the game close, only allowing one walk over the last three innings while striking out six, three of those by Carlos Marmol.
