CC Sabathia walked the first hitter, Carl Crawford in the seventh. He then induced Ben Zobrist to hit a comebacker, but CC threw the ball to the third base side of second base. Cano made the catch, and Crawford overslid the bag, trying to take out Cano, and Robinson applied the tag for the out. He would not have lost the no-hitter on the play, but down 4-0, the Rays would have been in position for a big inning with the heavy hitters coming up.
Longoria strikes out looking for the second out, the fifth K for CC.
Update: B.J. Upton hits a hard grounder down the third base line, and Alex Rodriguez does his best Graig Nettles impersonation, diving to catch then ball, then making a perfect throw to get Upton at first. The no-hitter remains intact through seven, with great plays ending the last two innings.
Update: Francisco Cervelli is not only catching a no-hitter in his first start of 2010, but he just doubled in two runs to increase the Yankees lead to 8-0. Gabe Kapler was playing shallow in right and Cervelli got the ball deep enough in the gap to be out of Kapler’s reach.

The ump though has blown at least 1 maybe 2 strike out calls that has resulted in sabathia throwing an extra 7-10 pitches. hope is arm doesn’t tire because of that and he loses the no hitter.
Arod and the Nettles impersonation….
Oh, did he come up behind a Tampa Pitcher and twist his pitching arm behind his head and ruin his shoulder?
Just wondering,
