First At Bat Home Run

With the score tied at three in the bottom of the first, Jason Heyward comes to bat against Carlos Zambrano with one out and two on. Zambrano falls behind 2-0, and I’m thinking, this is a great chance for Heyward to get a hit. Carlos throws it in the lower half of the strike zone, right down the middle, and Heyward smacks it into the back of the bullpen in right. He’s a classic lefty power hitter, using a uppercut on a low pitch to power the ball out of the park. Very impressive.

Yikes. Rough day for Zambrano, who left the game 1.1 innings in with a 54.00 ERA.
