Rockies Controlling Costs

The Rockies offered multi-year deals to Chris Ianetta, Huston Street and Clint Barmes. In general, these are great moves because it gets teams out of the arbitration game so they can focus their resources elsewhere. Barmes doesn’t strike me as the kind of player who needs a multi-year contract, however. A two-year deal so they don’t lose in arbitration seems okay, however.

Rafael Betancourt accepted arbitration, so he’ll stay with the Rockies as well.
