Izturis Doubles

Macier Izturis bounces a ball into the rightfield bleachers for a leadoff double in the fifth, the Angels’ second hit of the game. Napoli, however, follows with a fly out to center for the first out. Both Angel hits have been doubles.

Update: Erick Aybar picks up Izturis, however, with a hard grounder that goes right behind Burnett and into center for the RBI single. The Yankees lead is down to 2-1.

Update: Aybar steals second on a 1-0 count, Figgins swinging and missing. That puts the tying run in scoring position.

Update: Figgins gets hit in the foot, putting runners on 1st and second with one out. That’s the second batter Burnett hit tonight, both low.

Update: Abreu and Burnett are battling. Bobby got ahead 3-1 but Burnett got him to swing at a pitch outside the zone for 3-2, and now Abreu fouled off the last two pitches.

Update: Make that three in a row foul. The runners, with one out, are moving on the pitch.

Update: Damon catches the fourth foul ball, right in the leftfield corner. Burnett wins the battle and there are two down.

Update: Burnett walks Hunter on a 3-2 count, and the ball is a wild pitch that goes into the stands. The runners only advance one base, so the bases are juiced for Guerrero.

Update: Burnett throws a ball in the dirt on a 1-2 count to Guerrero that gets away from Molina. All the runners move up and the score is tied at two. It was a good pitch to throw to Guerrero, since he does tend to swing at anything, but the danger is it gets away. Good job by Fox for pointing that out before the pitch.

Guerrero grounds out to Jeter to end the inning, but halfway through it’s a brand new ball game.
