Dodgers in the Ninth

Jonathan Broxton gives up a hit but no runs. The Phillies take an 8-6 lead into the bottom of the ninth with Kemp, Blake and Loney due up. Kemp and Blake are a combined 1 for 8, but Loney has three hits, including a rare Dodger Stadium home run.

Update: Lidge is on for the save. This could be interesting.

Update: Kemp leads off with a single to left. That brings the tying run to the plate.

Update: Blake hits a hard grounder to Utley, who turns it into a 4-6-3 double play. The Phillies are one out away from taking game one, and James Loney is at the plate.

Update: Loney walks to bring up Belliard. James is three for four with a walk on the game.

Update: Belliard pops out to short, and the Phillies take an 8-6 win for a 1-0 lead in the series. The best road team in the NL remains undefeated away from Philadelphia in the post season. The Dodgers out hit the Phillies 14-8, but the Dodgers out walked them 7-3. The Phillies also collected all of their RBI on three long hits, two three-run homers and a two-run double. The Dodgers, with the exception of Manny two-run bomb, could not get their long hits with men on base.

That was a fun game, always in doubt. The Phillies bullpen bent but didn’t break, and the Dodgers pen did.
