Juan Soto of the Mets remained atop the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings as the Mets continue their slide in a 9-3 Phillies victory. With a nine game lead, the Phillies look like a shoe-in to win the division. Soto posted a one for four in the game.
Brice Turang of the Brewers went 0 for 5 from the leadoff slot in a 5-4 Rangers win. With the three batters behind him combining to go seven for thirteen, Turang reaching base just once might have made a difference in the game. Corey Seager of the Rangers remains on the illjured list and ranks fifth.
George Springer of the Blue Jays, in third place, homered in a 4-3 win over the Astros. Toronto staged a late comeback after taking a while to get their first hit. Julio Rodriguez of the Mariners takes fourth place as he went 0 for 4 in a 5-3 win over the Cardinals. Two and a half games now separate the top three teams in the AL West. It’s possible that the three teams tie for the division, but only one of them makes the post season.
The best game score of the day belonged to Teoscar Hernandez of the Dodgers, a 79. He went three for four with two home runs in a 7-2 win over the Rockies. It was his third multi-HR game of the season.
