Blake Snell returns to Tampa Bay to lead the Dodgers against his old team and Drew Rasmussen. Snell makes his third start of the season with a mixed bag of results. His ERA stands at two after nine innings, but he allowed 18 hits+walks, and five of the seven runs against him were unearned. Rasmussen comes into the game with a 2.96 ERA, giving up 79 hits in 100 1/3 innings despite a lower K rate.
Zack Wheeler and Tarik Skubal rank one and two respectively in the Bill James Pitcher Rankings. They square off in Philadelphia as the Tigers face the Phillies. Skubal improved on his stellar 2024, lowering his ERA 0.3 runs by improving all three true outcomes. Wheeler’s ERA is down 0.01 runs, and he looks like the pitcher of the decade so far.
Merrill Kelly makes his Rangers debut against the Mariners and Luis Castillo. Kelly keeps batters off base this season with a .267 OBP allowed, and removed 15 runners with double plays, caught stealings, and pickoffs. Castillo limits power, with a .374 slugging percentage allowed.
