Best Batter Monday

Aaron Judge of the Yankees moves 0.2 points ahead of Cal Raleigh of the Mariners as Sunday brings a number of changes to the top five of the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. Judge homered and walked in a 4-2 win over the Braves, while the Astros held Raleigh to a single in four trips, Houston taking the game 11-3. Judge ties Alex Rodriguez for sixth place on the Yankees home run list. With 11 more he will pass Yogi Berra, then Joe DiMaggio for fourth place. Lou Gehrig would still be a long way off.

In the Houston win, Raleigh’s teammate Randy Arozarena took an 0 for 4 to drop to fourth place, but Taylor Trammell of the Astros posted a game score of 78, tied for the highest of the day with Wilyer Abreu of the Red Sox. Trammell went three for four with a walk, double and home run, while Abreu went two for three with two homers and a walk in a 6-1 win over the Cubs. Trammell bring his BA over .200 while Abreu ups his slugging percentage to .513.

Corey Seager of the Rangers goes two for four with a double in a 2-1 Tigers win, both hits coming off Tarik Skubal. Seager collected eight hits in twelve at bats against Skubal with no walks and no strikeouts. Seager ranks third. In the fifth slot sits Michael Busch of the Cubs, who did not start on Sunday.
