Houston Astros GM Dana Brown likes the way Lance McCullers Jr is throwing after he missed two seasons due to injury:
“I’m really fired up about Lance,” Brown said. “He’s throwing some sides. He’s feeling really good, his throwing’s up to 90 [mph]. There’s no discomfort or pain, so we’re fired up about what he’s going to look like in the spring. We’ve got to temper it out a little bit and let it play out, but we’re excited about how Lance looks.”

McCullers hit 93-94 MPH on his fastballs when he was healthy, so he still has a way to go. There’s also talk of him moving to the bullpen. The Astros depth chart looks pretty good where the starters are concerned. If the Astros can work McCullers gradually in the pen, he might be ready when the inevitable injury occurs.
