Former pitcher and Cy Young Award winner LaMarr Hoyt died Monday at age 66:
Hoyt went 98-68 with a 3.99 ERA in eight years in the majors. He had 48 career complete games, including eight shutouts, and 10 saves.
The 6-foot-3 right-hander was the 1985 All-Star Game MVP, pitching three innings of one-run ball in the National League’s 6-1 victory over the AL. That year with San Diego was the only All-Star selection of his career.

My thoughts go out to his family and friends.
Hoyt rose to dominance after two season in the majors, leading the majors in wins in both 1982 and 1983. At his peak, he walked just 1.42 batters per game, and 1.9 per game for his career. He produced 8.7 of his 12.7 WAR in those two seasons. In 1986, his ERA rose to 5.15, and he retired.
