Tigers and Correa

Bless you Boys takes a long look at the Tigers ability to sign free agent shortstop Carlos Correa. It would appear the long-term contract could be paid for after the second season with money that’s committed to Miguel Cabrera:

Speaking of Cabrera, there will be another $32 million per season coming off the books after the 2023 season when he will retire. The team will have a minimal number of contracts expiring by then, with Jeimer Candelario being potentially the most expensive to extend or replace.

If the Tigers want to win this year, with Correa in his prime, they will need to spend more than the league average. Long term, however, they would look pretty good, especially having that $30 million a year going to a productive player.
