The Cardinals get to the Nationals in the top of the seventh inning. Singles by Jose Martinez and Yadier Molina set up a one out single by Paul DeJong. Martinez was going to hold at third, but Juan Soto slipped on the grass as he set up to throw. He tried throw from his seat, but the wild throw allowed Martinez to score. The Cardinals cut the Nationals lead to 7-1.
Update: Stephen Strasburg strikes out the last two batters of the inning to end his day with one unearned run allowed, no walks, and twelve strikeouts. It’s his second 12 K game in the post season and his fourth ten K game.
