There’s a very interesting story developing around the failure of the Cubs ground crew last Tuesday. The Cubs cut hours to avoid paying health insurance for those employees, as many business did to game Obamacare.
Now owner Tom Ricketts is holding a party for employees, according to the satirical web site eTrueSports:
“We may not see eye-to-eye on issues like health care or a living wage or Obama’s birthplace,” said Ricketts, “but who doesn’t like dogs and burgers with all the fixings? The entire Ricketts family is so proud to welcome our workers to the first of what we hope will be several Cubs Employee Appreciation Barbeques. All the chow will be served in the tent behind the servants quarters, right next to the Port-o-Potties. Dig in!”
“Tom’s nicer than his father,” sighed an employee, who requested anonymity before speaking to eTrueSports because he feared for his life.
Unintended consequences are a bitch.

If you check with the head of the grounds keepers union, Vince Vecha the tarp problem had nothing to do with health insurance. It’s really the same business practice that other clubs are using IF their attendances are down. Read the link included here. But sure go ahead and pile on the Cubs, everyone does it.

B.Amie » If it came off as me piling on the Cubs, I assure you that wasn’t the case. I was piling on Obamacare. I’m perfectly fine with the Cubs paying their employees what the market will bear, including or not medical costs.
Thanks for the added information!
